We are the Cameron family! We live on a small ranch in the northern mountains of Colorado. We have dogs and horses. Craig works as a College Bookstore Manager, and Ruth is a high school and college instructor and volunteers with several organizations dedicated to at-risk youths. Our daughter, Lauren, has made us proud grandparents of a little baby girl, Seferina. Ian, our oldest son, is in college studying to get his education degree. Ian wants to be a teacher of high school Physical Education and English, and would like to coach high school basketball, too. Gareth, our youngest son is starting college this fall at the local community college. He has no idea what he wants to study yet.
Our first Bassets Hounds, Mac'Adoucous and Maggie Lu, came to us via our son, Ian. He had always loved Basset Hounds and identified with their temperament--lounging around the house! Then Maisie and Marsailie arrived to keep Mac and Maggie company. We love having Bassett Hounds. They are so loving and loyal, and at most times quiet unless a car pulls up the drive or a coyote comes onto the property. Then you can hear Mac baying all over the ranch! Mac raised our Tibetan Mastiff, Sirius, and Sirius sometimes acts like a Basset! He can bay too!
Fergus, our first Cairn, came to us as a companion animal for our daughter Lauren when she was a teenager, having emotional problems at the time. Fergus was always there with her when he sensed she was upset and especially if she was sad and lonely. We decided that others should be able to experience the love and loyalty that comes with a Cairn so we decided to start breeding them. Our Cairn breeding program suffered a serious setback when we lost Hamish, our 3-year-old male who was to become our stud, to a careless motorist. We now have a wonderful male Cairn puppy, Dhougal, and an equally wonderful female Cairn puppy, Isabael, who in years to come (three to be exact) will reestablish our Cairn breeding program.
Our family has been breeding dogs for over 30 years and we gain so much joy from watching our pups go to new families who will love them for a lifetime.
